Our Pastor

Deirdre Solomon – Lead Pastor

I’m Pastor Deirdre, lead pastor of Riverview Adventist Church. I’m passionate about sharing the Good News of God’s love for all people. I enjoy creating authentic communities where people of all generations can grow spiritually and know they belong.

As a mom to three amazing kids—Gideon, Kara, and Jericho—I understand the importance of helping the next generation love God, love others, and serve. My husband, Kevin, is also a pastor, serving at the Sparks Seventh-day Adventist Church, and together we’re committed to making God’s grace known in our community.

Check out my latest messages on the watch page—I’d love for you to join us!

Guiding Verse

“Jesus replied: ‘Love the lord your God with all your hear and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”

Matthew 22:37-39

Our Story

Riverview has always been about one thing—sharing God’s love with the city of Reno.

It all started generations ago, in 1880. Hundreds gathered in the city to hear the truth of God’s love. Ellen White, a guiding voice in our movement, spoke at those meetings. Charles Kinney was baptized and later became the first African‑American minister in our church, a powerful reminder that welcome and diversity are central to who we are. From those beginnings, the Reno Seventh‑day Adventist Church was born.

We’ve always prioritized kids and families, establishing a school called Silver State Academy to help the next generation grow. Today, Riverview Christian Academy continues to serve both our church family and the wider Reno community.

In 2003, our church and school moved to this campus and took on the name Riverview to create a place where all generations could worship, learn, and belong. Now we’re in a season of refreshing—becoming an even more welcoming, community‑oriented, and mission‑focused church. We’re passionate about loving God, loving each other, and serving our city. Riverview is a place where everyone can belong, grow, and make a difference in Reno.
